Founder & President, Grand Splash Marketing

  • Native woman-owned agency founder
  • Marketing & communications practitioner
  • Public transit communications specialist
  • Speaker & trainer

Practical experience. Practical training.

Not a motivational talk. Not a lecture.

Michelle teaches from fifteen-plus years of operating an agency and working directly with businesses, nonprofits, associations, transit agencies and Tribal organizations.

Training ranges from one-on-one private instruction, to organizational workshops, to conference sessions and national industry panels — customized to the audience rather than delivered from a canned deck.

Social media is one of the areas she teaches. It is not the whole of it. Her instruction spans marketing strategy, communications, brand and reputation, digital marketing, public relations, business marketing and transit communications.

  • Traditional advertising, print and radio
  • Digital marketing, websites and advertising
  • Social media and content
  • Public relations and media relations
  • Photography, videography and campaign production
  • Business strategy and consulting
  • Public transit, nonprofits, associations and small business

  • Public relations for transit agencies
  • Social media for transit
  • Transit storytelling
  • Stakeholder communications

  • Rider customer experience
  • Frontline employee communications
  • Community awareness
  • Marketing's role in public transportation
  • Communications in the federal process

National RTAP / FTA panel

Michelle has participated as a panelist at the National RTAP Conference in a Federal Transit Administration discussion focused on communications in the federal process and the importance of outreach, agency visibility and telling the story of public transportation.

The point is not that communications produce funding. It is that clear, consistent communications help an agency demonstrate who it serves, what it does, why the service matters and what it means to the community — which matters when agencies participate in public processes, build relationships and pursue opportunities.

Signature original training

Turning Your Transit Driver Into an Ambassador for Your Agency

Created, developed and taught by Michelle Robertson.

Drivers and frontline employees are among the most visible representatives of a transit agency. For most riders, the driver is the agency. Every interaction shapes customer experience, reputation, public perception, community trust, word of mouth and the agency brand.

The training helps drivers understand that their role extends beyond safely operating a vehicle — they are often the person riders interact with most directly, and they play a real part in representing the agency.

  • Professional communication
  • Customer service
  • Representing the agency
  • Positive rider interactions
  • Professionalism
  • Community perception and agency reputation
  • Building trust
  • Understanding the driver's role in the agency brand

Available to transit agencies, associations, RTAP programs, conferences and other organizations. Content is adapted to the agency and its riders.
